Contractors Forum:
There might be possible electrical changes for the upcomming Code as of Januauary 2008,
(The new electrical code ). The following are strongly discussed items under review and
should be taken in consideration for your 2008 projects.
1. All new construction, must use a ufer ground.
What this means is that near the footing, prior to concrete poor, the rebar must be bonded
by #4 copper and must be ran to the service location. This GROUND must be inspected by
Labor and industries before you poor.
2. All new and major remodels, all branch circuits will be arc fault protected which means
that all regular 15 and 20 amp breakers will be replaced with 20 amp arc fault breakers. This
will have a definite price increase in services.
3. Any hole in drywall or walls made by an electrical contractor will be required to be
patched prior to final.
These are some of the major issues that might dramatically affect your work production.
